Campus
Since opening in the early 1960’s, Foothill and De Anza Colleges have emerged as two of the outstanding community colleges in the United States. Academic programs parallel requirements for the first two years of university study. And our students succeed! Of all the international students who complete their first two years at Foothill or De Anza, most successfully transfer into their third year (as juniors) at one of the world-class public or private universities in California.

Foothill and De Anza Colleges are located 45 minutes south of San Francisco, in exciting and beautiful Silicon Valley. Companies such as Apple Computers, Cisco Systems, Intel, Sun Microsystems are all in the local area.

Outstanding Academic Program
At Foothill and De Anza, classes are small with much personal attention. Over 80 transfer programs and 30 career programs are offered at the college, including business, computer science, multimedia and graphics. Each year, many Foothill/De Anza students successfully transfer to four-year institutions to continue their studies. Noted universities include Stanford, Santa Clara University, UC Berkeley, Harvard, San Jose State University and more!

Services for International Students
Orientation and Guidance Program

All international students participate in an orientation course on the Foothill campus before the start of the students’ first quarter. During this course, each student gets to know the international staff who conduct a comprehensive orientation covering issues from personal adjustment to registration for Foothill classes. It’s a great way to meet new friends!

English as a Second Language Program
Foothill and De Anza offer a comprehensive ESL program at six different levels of proficiency, focusing on oral communication, grammar, reading skills, listening and comprehension.

Tutorial Center
A peer tutorial program offers individual tutoring for all courses taught on campus.

Health Services
Health insurance is mandatory and will be collected quarterly with the student’s registration.

Housing Services
Foothill and De Anza have no housing facilities on campus. The college works with a local agency offering homestays. There are many apartments available for rent in the area.

Expenses
Tuition for international students is $117 per unit. TUITION IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE. The following are estimated expenses in U.S. dollars for one academic year (12 units for three quarters).

Due Dates

Applications are accepted for fall, winter, or spring quarter. All beginning students will be required to arrive on campus approximately one month prior to the beginning of classes for orientation and registration. Here are the due dates:

Fall QuarterJune 20
Winter QuarterOctober 20
Spring QuarterJanuary 20

Students need to have a TOEFL score of 500 or better to gain admission and be eligible for the I-20 AB form.
